Kusch+Co immediately came up with new products: a special belt which locks out some of the seats in airport terminals, and partition walls between the seats. New products have been designed to facilitate social distancing, but they will also be useful in other sectors and industries, making it easier to counter the coronavirus.
Kusch+Co, a brand owned by Nowy Styl, is a world-class expert in providing solutions for passenger terminals. This German company has completed more than 260 projects for airport hubs. One of the most recent projects was completed in the famous Daxing airport near Beijing and involved the provision of nearly 4 thousand seats. The Chinese airport is a good example of how the aviation industry suffered because of COVID-19. Over the past weeks, the traffic at the airports has dropped dramatically, also as a result of decisions made by the state authorities. However, we are now observing that things might be slowly getting back to normal. The managers of individual airports are also making an enormous effort to ensure that the passengers stay safe and healthy. The most important thing now is to maintain safe distance between people.
And this is where Kusch+Co comes in. Its specialists developed and launched the production of a special belt that can be used to lock out some of the seats in airport terminals. And they did it in a flash. “The greatest advantage of the belt is that fits in well with the existing setting. Plus, it's really versatile. It does not interfere with the structure of the seats and it may be used with various models, regardless of the brand and manufacturer. It is also easy to fix. The solution itself is effective and aesthetic,” says Ingmar Krupp, Head of the Transport Division at Kusch+Co.
The first client who purchased the new product was the airport in Frankfurt. It was for them that the experts from Kusch+Co produced a prototype of the belt in just four days. “When I drove to Frankfurt to present the prototype, it turned out that two our competitors managed to prepare only drawings of their solutions. The presentation was held on Friday, and on Monday we had a deal,” tells Ingmar Krupp.
In overall, 17 thousand such belts have been sold so far, with new orders coming in every day. The versatility of the offered solution means it can be adjusted and used in a number of other sectors. The production of a similar solution has now been launched in Nowy Styl plants. This time it’s going to be delivered to offices. However, there is more to it. The belt can be used in all situations when you need to exclude or lock out some of the available seats, e.g. in public transport or public venues, such as halls, cinemas, theatres or stadiums.
The abovementioned partitioned walls, originally designed for airport terminals, also have a wide range of applications. Kusch+Co offers them in a few variants, depending on the material used (acrylic glass, toughened glass, metal or wood covered with special upholstery) as well as the assembly method employed, which may vary according to the type of benches present in a specific terminal.
