Nowy Styl cheers for Apteka Designu!
Apteka Designu is housed in a post-modernist building, which used to be a pharmacy. Nowadays it accommodates new technologies, science and design. Nowy Styl actively supports local initiatives focused on promoting culture, which is why we engaged with the Krakow Festival Office to provide furniture for the office zone.
The newly organised zone is part of the revival strategy designed for the Wesoła district in Krakow. The building was officially launched on 26th September, and October is going to see the designers moving in.
Our shared goal was to come up with a truly creative space, packed full of public functionalities, green and integrated into the historical part of the city. Places like Wesoła are now seen in many European cities. You’ll find them in Barcelona, Berlin or Vienna. I believe Wesoła is going to become a flagship district of Krakow, alongside the Market Square or the Jewish District.

Apteka Designu was created to cater to the needs of architects and designers, who claimed Krakow needed a place that fosters integration, work, meetings and coworking. This is a space for those who deal with broadly understood design and would like to have a say in the revival of the district.
Apteka Designu in Wesoła will be a meeting place – a space that brings designers together. The district and its people will definitely benefit from this collaboration – argues Carolina Pietyra, head of the Festival Office. I’m really happy to invite you to visit this special place now – she says.
Inside, the building is divided into a few levels. The high ground floor houses designer studios, a coworking space and a reading room. The low ground floor is supposed to be a workshop space and a place, where experiments and prototypes are made. This is where students’ organisations from the Academy of Fine Arts are welcome. But the designers working upstairs can also visit this space any time, and so can all those who feel they need access to a workshop.
Nowy Styl joins forces with the Krakow Festival Office
Apteka Designu is supposed to inspire newly graduated architects and designers and set an example to other institutions, companies and cities. It is a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience. This is where Nowy Styl reaches out with its concept to the creators of Apteka Designu, as well as to the visitors and inhabitants of the district. Our goal is to support local initiatives, events and young generations, who will impact the shape of the artistic and creative layer of the city in the future. That’s why we not only provide furniture made by Nowy Styl and Kusch+Co, but we will continue to collaborate on the workshops and events organised in this place.
We would like to thank the Krakow Festival Office team for the collaboration and for inviting us to participate in the project. Apteka Designu is unique, judging by local and national standards. In our everyday practice, we deal with commercial office spaces and focus on providing ergonomic and designer solutions. Creating a space like this is a great opportunity to integrate with the artistic community and to draw inspiration from all the designs and ideas originating in this place. This is a truly urban and ‘citygenic’ project, which fits in with other functionalities around this place. I am looking forward to the upcoming initiatives of Apteka Designu, and I’m happy that Nowy Styl could provide the users of this space with ergonomic solutions for creative work, based on acclaimed products, tried and tested all around the world.
