Together for Sustainability in the Supply Chain

  • Together for Sustainability in the Supply Chain

Supply chain management is one of the most challenging areas of any large company. It consists not only of supplying materials, but also warehousing, production planning, technological process and logistics.

We are conscious of the influence exerted by the numerous links in this chain on our products and, indirectly, on their users. Consequently, in order to maintain our status as a reliable and credible business partner, we collaborate exclusively with suppliers who align with our vision and approach to ethical and environmental issues. We believe this will enable us to establish a long-lasting relationship based on mutual trust.

In order to guarantee the most reliable supply chain, we have established specific standards of social, environmental and economic responsibility in Nowy Styl Procurement Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct, required to be accepted by all our contractors in supply chain.

At the same time, we would like to acknowledge their efforts to minimise non-financial risks. In order to encourage and recognise the most interesting and inspiring initiatives regarding ethics, care for the environment and mutual inspiration and self-improvement, we decided to organise Supplier Sustainability Award. We were pleased to recognise and reward outstanding achievements of our partners in meeting the social and environmental goals of the EU Taxonomy, particularly given the new challenges that have emerged in the ESG area. We were particularly mindful of climate change mitigation activity, including initiatives to facilitate the transition to a closed-loop economy and CO2 emissions reduction goals along with reporting.

We believe that education is the key to continually raise sustainable standards for the benefit of us all. On 10th of October 2024, we had the pleasure to invite once again our esteemed business partners to a webinar 'Together for Sustainability'. The event was hosted by Klaudia Pieczka, ESG Procurement Manager at Global Procurement and Supply Chain Department at Nowy Styl, together with special guest Dominika Trąbicka-Czerklewicz, Senior Procurement Specialist at Siemens. Over 40 experts attended the event in the field of sustainable procurement. It was a unique opportunity to share insights on the best practices in sustainability implemented in their organisations.

We are pleased to report that our webinar has once again proved to be an effective platform for sustainable experiences and ideas exchange. We believe this initiative has merit and will be continued in following years. We trust this will enable us to gain a deeper understanding of our supply chain, which we hope will contribute to the development of an effective strategy fully based on circular economy model. In addition to reducing energy use, raw material consumption and waste generation, our main objective is to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, which f of great concern the European Union.

We are aware of the GHG emissions that contribute to climate change, therefore we are committed to conducting our business activities in a sustainable and responsible manner, with due consideration for the environment.
In line with our Quality and Environment Policy, we are working towards a net zero transformation, with the goal of halving our carbon footprint by 2030 and achieving zero emissions by 2050, across all Scope 1, 2 and 3 activities.

As of 2019, Nowy Styl has adopted the Dutch CO2 Performance Ladder sustainability support system for companies to effectively manage their carbon footprint and reduce CO2 emissions. In connection with this certification, we undergo annual external audits to verify our progress in this area. The result of these rigorous audits is that we have maintained our certification.

Following the CO2 Performance Ladder system methodology, we have estimated the carbon footprint for Nowy Styl in Poland, in Germany (Nowy Styl Deutschland GmbH) and Nowy Styl in the Netherlands. In our calculations and efforts, we focus on the organisation's direct and indirect emissions, i.e. scope 1 and 2 in the GHG Protocol methodology, as well as emissions related to our business air travel.

We are pleased to report that in 2023, CO2 emissions are reduced by 50% compared to the 2018 baseline (i.e. relative emissions related to annual turnover defined as revenue from the sale of products and services excluding other operating and financing costs).

We are aware that the majority of our carbon footprint is generated by suppliers who produce materials and components for our needs. From 2021 onwards, we are gathering data and working closely with our esteemed business partners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to monitor the data accordingly. This will enable us to be fully prepared in the future to start reporting our Scope 3 carbon footprint.

We are optimistic that the next webinar will provide an opportunity for us, in collaboration with our partners, to explore further avenues for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to more effective climate change mitigation.
