We have published the Nowy Styl Sustainability Report for 2022-2023
For the sixth time, our company has published Sustainability Report. Make your space responsible for 2022-2023. The report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the 2021 Global Reporting Initiative and independently verified by KPMG Advisory.
“The latest edition of the report shows how we achieved our next ambitious goals and commitments in a difficult time that was filled with challenges. As a result of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, we found ourselves in a new geopolitical reality, and after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic our teams faced the challenge of adapting to the new reality. In 2022 and 2023, we made significant steps towards implementing our sustainability strategy. Out of 31 commitments, as many as 29 were met to a significant extent, while the remaining 2 still require intensive work and effort” says Bartosz Karasiński, Marketing Director.

The report focuses on presenting data for the Group's production companies: Nowy Styl sp. z o. o., Nowy Styl Deutschland GmbH, Kusch+Co GmbH and Sitag AG. The employees of these companies account for 93% of all our workforce and their fixed assets and inventories constitute over 90% of these asset categories in the entire capital group, so they are the most relevant for the readers of the report, considering the areas of the group's impact which have been identified as key.
The years 2022-2023 also brought about a number of important projects and developments in each of the ESG areas: Environmental, Social and Governance, the reporting of which we are gradually and consistently preparing for in line with the latest legal regulations. We discuss the fulfilment of our commitments and achievements in the individual areas in the following chapters of the report.

About and around the product
The second chapter focuses on the product, including our aspiration to develop a business model based on the circular economy (in accordance with the Ecodesign – ISO 14006 system implemented in 2021, extending the organisation’s environmental management in line with ISO 14001). At the same time, we strive to provide safe and ergonomic solutions, taking into account the diverse needs of users. This chapter also discusses the standards we meet and the certificates and awards granted to both our organisation and our products.
Team and local development
The following sections of the report focus on the team: employees, employment structure, training, development programmes and cooperation with local schools and universities. We also summarise our activities to support local development. Support for local communities, including education of children and young people, culture and sports have been at the core of our commitment for many years.
The Janusz Korczak Foundation in Jasło, started by Adam and Jerzy Krzanowski, is one example of that, encouraging the education of talented children and teenagers from the Podkarpackie province since 2001. During the reporting period we also put a lot of effort into providing assistance in the wake of the war in Ukraine.

Sustainable supply chain
Chapter Five covers sustainable supply chain management. Controlling the supply chain is one of the most challenging areas of operations at any large company. The longer the chain, the higher the risk of it being broken. In order for our business relations to stay positive, long-standing and balanced, we expect our contractors, partners and suppliers to comply with Nowy Styl’s policies and documents such as Procurement Policy, Supplier Diversity Policy, Supplier Code of Conduct, Basic Requirements and General Terms and Conditions of Purchase.
Collaboration with local suppliers is key for us. In 2022-2023, the share of expenditure on products and services from local suppliers was as follows: 51% and 52% on the Polish market and 61% and 67% on the German market.

Out of concern for the environment and climate change
Chapter Six concerns the environment and climate change. Working in accordance with certified management systems based on the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 14006, EMAS, CO2 Performance Ladder and the FSC® and PEFC standards, we are confident that we can meet the environmental and market requirements. All our production companies are currently covered by ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. The overarching directions of our organisation’s activities for the protection of the natural environment and its resources are included in the Nowy Styl Quality and Environment Policy.
Our previous goal set in the management system was to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by 2025, compared to 2018. Many initiatives completed in 2022-2023 produced significant results in this area. 2023 was a record year for Nowy Styl on the company's path to decarbonisation. We have reduced our CO2 emissions by as much as 50% compared to 2018, despite the original target being 30%!

The preparation of the report was preceded by a dialogue with stakeholders and an analysis of relevant topics. The complete process of creating the report has been described in the final chapter. The report has a global dimension and comprehensively describes the activities of the entire organisation, so it was prepared by an interdisciplinary team composed of the staff of a number of departments in Poland and subsidiaries in Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
